Engineering Manager (San Francisco)

The data engineering (DE) team is looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers, designing and developing data pipelines using the latest big data technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing a group of world class data engineers, showing demonstrated growth in their career development, as well as the mentorship/growth and performance management of direct and indirect reports. This person will have excellent skills in designing and developing scalable solutions for data pipelines, including data infrastructure and data systems. Data Engineer (San Francisco)

As a Data Engineer, you will design & build mission-critical data pipelines and platform that enable analytics for our internal & external customers on one of the biggest specialty healthcare data. Verana Health is looking for a seasoned Java back-end engineer with proficient skills on building microservices, Web or SAAS services using Spring Boot and with deep knowledge on analytical or transactional data handling.

Cloud DevOps Engineer (Knoxville)

Verana Health is seeking a Cloud Engineer and DevOps professional with the skills to maintain company-wide AWS infrastructure. This person will develop processes and best practices in authorization and security envelope of AWS services. The candidate will take part in a wider technology team responsible for managing company-wide AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, maintain, and support applications, servers, and cloud development platforms in support of technology projects across a wide range of languages, operating systems, and testing platforms.

Data Engineer Healthcare (Knoxville)

Verana Health is seeking a Data Engineering professional with the skills to build and maintain data-driven applications. The engineer will investigate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system databases, understand EMR data models, and identify/catalog various data elements present in EMR databases. The candidate will take part in the broader technology team responsible for managing company-wide data ingestion and healthcare data mapping effort.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Forensically explore relational databases to investigate, identify, and understand RDBMS data models.
  • Incubate/Design/Create SQL - DDL, DQL, DML, DCL.
  • Profile various healthcare databases - MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server. SQL Server knowledge is preferred.
  • Characterize database instances by utilizing SQL Server toolchain to identify and understand ER models.
  • Create/Review logical entities, define their attributes, and establish relationships between the various data objects.
  • Design physical data models and generate DDLs.
  • Understand healthcare-specific EMR data models, catalog data dictionaries, and map data elements to standard data specifications.
  • Work closely with technology teams to understand processes and policies driving the team goals.
  • Document and improve data mapping and data element identification processes across the entire data ingestion team.

Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS degree in computer science, software engineering, or related scientific discipline is desired.
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Modeling, logical/physical database designing.
  • Extensive experience in data modeling and logical data model design.
  • Demonstrated expertise in logical and physical data modeling (ER).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using data modeling tools, data profiling toolchain, and data (de)normalization techniques.

Technical Product Manager (Knoxville)

Verana is looking for a Technical Product Manager who can function at the intersection of technology, clinical stakeholders, data architecture and product.

Responsibilities:

This individual is responsible for identifying end user needs and translating those business requirements into technical requirements for a big data infrastructure that ingests data from a variety of healthcare sources and systems. End use cases include regulatory reporting requirements and advanced real world evidence research.

The Technical Product Manager will manage data product deliverables such as:

  • New data ingestion for healthcare systems including EHRs, practice management systems, claims, third party data, PDF notes documents, and other relevant clinical data sources
  • Integration of data from multiple sources into a common data model designed to support a variety of end user requirements related to provider applications, quality reporting, analytics, clinical trials, and real-world evidence studies
  • Scalable infrastructure capable of ingesting data across different medical specialties from thousands of practices/providers and dozens of EHR integrations
  • Mapping and ETL-associated assets related to the integration of many disparate healthcare data sources
  • De-identification and tokenization of existing and new data

Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business, biomedical engineering, computer science, information science, informatics or related field - or equivalent work experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar.

  • A strong technical background and experience with healthcare data and data flows for the different healthcare settings - clinics, hospitals, labs, pharmacies, etc. - are critical to the success of this role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on translating complex technical information and concepts into more relatable terms
  • Ability to collaborate closely with a team, or charge forward independently when required
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment with competing priorities

Technical experience in the following areas:

  • Deep professional experience with healthcare data analytics, such as Health Information Exchange, Clinical Quality Reporting, Population Health Analytics, Disease Guideline platforms, Clinical Decision Support systems, EHRs, or Practice Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of regulatory (CDC, FDA, ONC) and payer (CMS) reporting requirements for providers and life-sciences companies and associated data standards
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, PySpark, and AWS

Security Engineer (Knoxville)

We are seeking a Security Engineer who will share responsibility for foundational services and tools to meet compliance requirements, while ensuring data security for partner, patient and provider data, as well as data accessibility controls infrastructure. This person will be building out toolsets to enable society and partnership requests…supporting what is coming next. This role will report to the Chief Information Security Officer, on a growing team, in both Knoxville, TN and San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities

The Security Engineer will perform work in a cloud environment using various tools and platforms for security operations and application security.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzes and recommends security controls and procedures in acquisition, development, and change management lifecycle of information systems, and monitors for compliance
  • Assessing the risks associated with proposed projects and vendors, and implement resolutions
  • Administers authentication and access controls, including provisioning, changes, and deprovisioning of user and system accounts, security/access roles, and access permissions to information assets
  • Develop and maintain relevant risk metrics for all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure that vendors and other stakeholders can view and secure their data in our environment.
  • Installing and using software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs

  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
  • Experience in building and maintaining robust security systems
  • Exhibits strong background in analyzing trends, news and changes in threat and compliance environment with respect to organizational risk; to advise a CISO (or comparable role) and related team members,
  • Strong focus in developing and executing plans for compliance and mitigation of risk; performing risk and compliance self-assessments, while engaging and coordinating third-party risk and compliance assessments
