Informatics Analyst (San Francisco)

Data modeling, data mapping and terminology harmonization are instrumental in organizing clinical, genomic, imaging and claims information and enabling our applications to aid clinicians and life sciences partners in deriving insights locked deep within the data. We’re looking for an exceptional Informatics Analyst who is technically skilled, excited about data - analytics, content, relationships, and interoperability - and wants to join our interdisciplinary and cross-functional team. You will lend your expertise to analyzing a practice’s data sources, providing support for the integration of their data into our platform and guiding the usage of this data. You’ll work closely with the platform engineering, algorithms, clinical data science, and customer success teams to build information models and inform the organizational data architecture as well as providing support for querying and utilization of data mappings to make clinical data more accessible, useful, and comprehensible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical analysis in supporting our concept infrastructure to meet business needs.
  • Experience with coding and mapping different healthcare terminologies.
  • Be a domain expert on clinical patient data with demonstrated hands on programming skills.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancements of Verana’s core data models and data mappings.
  • Engage with a variety of teams to help define and implement extensions to existing information models, supporting internal features and 3rd party content.
  • Identify and evaluate potential sources of content to enhance the user experience in Verana’s application.
  • Track (and if necessary, contribute to) emerging health data interchange standards (e.g. CDA, FHIR) and use these standards to inform Verana’s information model.
  • Become an expert on querying the data stored in these models in the Verana platform.
  • Uses technical, clinical, and financial knowledge to assess the completeness and reliability of data and the validity and accuracy of analytical results.

Requirements

  • Masters or BS in clinical, biomedical, health informatics with data analytics track or a related field, from a leading institution or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working with concept mappings, validation algorithms and QA analysis
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience building SQL queries, PySpark algorithms to generate report documents and integrating data from clinical platforms including EHR, pharmacy and claims
  • Working knowledge of regulatory (CDC, FDA) and payer (CMS) reporting requirements for providers and life-sciences companies and associated data standards (Registry CDA, CTCAE, EDC, eCQM, QRDA)
  • Deep understanding of HL7, FHIR and other reference information models used for healthcare interoperability
  • Experience working with standard controlled vocabularies like; SNOMED-CT, LOINC, RxNorm, NDC, ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Ability to write scripts (e.g. python, perl, pyspark, SQL) to perform basic data manipulation
  • Ability to write technical and logical data specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on relaying complex information and concepts in more relatable terms
  • Ability to collaborate closely with a team, or charge forward independently when required
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment with competing priorities

Bonus

  • Experience with a query language such as SQL, NoSQL, Athena Interface.
  • Medical Coding certification (CPC, CCS)
  • Experience working with large biomedical data sets (e.g. FDB, PubMed, NCIt)
  • Experience working with third party claims data sets like; Truven, IQVIA, etc.
  • Experience with Real World or Observational data sets like; OMOP, FDA AERS and i2b2.

Site Outreach Specialist/ Clinical Trials (New York)

The Site Outreach Specialist will work with the Clinical Operations Manager in the successful facilitation of all aspects of site outreach to ensure the successful and productive building of relationships with existing and potential clinical research trial sites. The Site Outreach Specialist will be involved in the project from point of sale to completion. As a member of the Clinical Trials team, the SOS will work closely with the physician-investigators, clinical research coordinators, and Industry sponsors to assist in the successful outcome of all projects. Our business is growing rapidly and needs someone who is passionate about helping physicians improve their care through data insights and improving overall patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and initiate site outreach
  • Ensure a successful result in regards to initiating site participation on trials or as referral sites for trials
  • Clear understanding of the clinical trials field
  • Engaging at a high level externally and internally
  • Developing presentations, communications, and other materials to aid in the successful outcome of site participation
  • Train and work closely with sites in regards to the Verana Trial Connect tool

Senior Product Designer, Verana Trial Connect (San Francisco)

Verana Health is a $100 million dollar funded healthcare startup that partners with medical societies and life science companies to use big data to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. You will be the second in-house design hire reporting to the Lead Product Designer. As the second design hire you will play an integral part in shaping the product and design culture at Verana. Added bonus: as a GV portfolio company you will have access to GV’s design and research partners for advice and support.

What you’ll do

You will lead design on Verana Trial Connect, a tool that helps physicians and clinical trial coordinators to identify potential patients for clinical trials. You will work on adding new features to enhance the current product and be responsible for strategic initiatives to grow and expand the tool. Your work will help connect patients to treatments in development, including novel treatments for rare genetic diseases. You will also:

  • Be involved in every stage of the design process, from discovery user research to concept validation to delivering final production ready design to the development team.
  • Partner closely with the cross-functional team of product managers, clinicians, data scientists, and engineers.
  • Communicate your ideas through presentations and deliverables such as project briefs, journey maps, workflows, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Validate your solutions with low and high fidelity prototypes with feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive decision making by navigating complexity, risks and trade-offs to align the team on critical decisions.
  • Deliver final screens and assets to the engineering team and work closely with the team to ensure quality of final implementation.
  • Utilize and contribute to our shared product design system

Who you are

You don’t just design screens but also use design deliverables including models, task flows, journey maps to help align the team on the problem and solution space. You also have:

  • 5+ years of UX and product design experience.
  • Experience designing for complex enterprise web applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate with subject matter experts.

Senior Product Manager - Clinical Trials (San Francisco)

Verana Health is a well-funded healthcare startup that partners with medical societies and life science companies to use big data to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. You will be a part of a rapidly growing product management team, reporting to the VP of Product Management & Design.

What you’ll do

You will lead product management for Verana Trial Connect, a flagship tool that helps physicians and clinical trial coordinators identify potential patients for select clinical trials. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and evolving components of Verana’s core product portfolio, specifically within the clinical trials space. You will work on adding new features to enhance the current product and be responsible for aligning with strategic initiatives that grow and expand the tool for Verana’s life science clients. Your work will help connect patients to treatments in development, ranging from novel treatments to treatments for rare genetic diseases. You will also:

  • Be involved in every stage of the product management process, working closely with the Clinical Trials team, product leadership and the development team to ship high quality products, making iterative changes based on customer feedback and business priorities.
  • Formulate your solutions with demonstrated product development and execution strategies, in correlation with feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of product designers, business strategists, clinicians, data scientists, and engineers on the product roadmap and objectives.
  • Create and groom product backlog through interaction with major internal stakeholders and external business clients.
  • Champion a user-centric approach to product design/development and definition.
  • Think critically about technical solutions and engage the engineering team in tough conversations about prioritization and tradeoffs of features.
  • Own and prioritize a feature backlog to align with the overall strategic roadmap.
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers and inspire them to deliver best-in-class experiences for customers utilizing Trial Connect.
  • Provide input to the strategic roadmap by becoming a subject matter expert on clinical trials, over time, to ascertain the complexities of the market through customer interaction and competitive analysis.
  • Evangelize product strategy and roadmap across a range of stakeholders and functional teams in the organization.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of product management experience, as a product owner or product manager for a technical product/device, preferably in a regulated environment.
