Data Engineer (Knoxville)

In this role, you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support our team on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. The right candidate will be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Compute Science or equivalent.
  • Proficient coding skills in languages such as Python/Golang/C/C++ or other scripting languages.
  • Expertise with Big Data technologies on AWS, i.e. EMR, Spark, Parquet, Kinesis, Hive, Presto, Airflow, etc.
  • Experience with SQL and SQL Server.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Java Software Engineer (San Francisco)

Verana Health is looking for a seasoned Java back-end engineer with proficient skills on building microservices, Web or SAAS services using Spring Boot and with deep knowledge on analytical or transactional data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with data science and data platform teams to transform analytical data for transactional Web application use.
  • Prior working experience in handling analytical and transactional databases.
  • Capable of building Spring Boot microservice from scratch.
