Director, Business Development- RWE (New York)

In this role, you will generate revenue as an individual contributor through the sale of large, multi-year deals focused on RWE data insights within life sciences. This individual must possess the requisite clinical expertise or academic background to be viewed as a credible, consultative sales executive in the eyes of Chief Medical Officers and/or related economic buyers within life sciences, clinical research, or RWE organizations.

Externally, the candidate must have the executive presence required to lead key customer relationships as well as to build credibility with new customers in this space. Internally, the Director will have strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with the team to strategize and implement the short- and long-term revenue growth objectives of the company as the organization transitions from a start-up to a more sophisticated, scalable healthcare technology and analytics business

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for revenue growth within defined therapeutic categories (Ophthalmology, Neurology)
  • Establish new customer relationships in the life sciences space leveraging marketplace knowledge and strategic business development activities with a focus on building sustainable market share
  • “Hands-on” leading an end-to-end sales process from prospecting to close

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree, MBA and/or advanced scientific degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience selling RWE to Life Science companies.
  • Understanding of the nuances of the sales cycle and the complexities of selling into the life sciences space
  • Preferable to have experience: the delivery of advanced data-driven platforms addressing “condition specific” clinical research
  • Demonstrable results in driving revenue and growth through the development of effective sales and key account strategies
  • C-Suite and executive-level engagement and communication skills. Able to articulate and deliver clear and concise messages internally and externally with excellent presentation skills
  • A confident self-starter, comfortable initiating and defending ideas, working in a fast-paced environment, and utilizing approaches which promote collaboration as well as proactive sharing of ideas and information
  • Unquestionable integrity and reputation, with a track record of delivering results while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct
  • Preferably based in or near New York City, with heavy travel

Corporate Counsel (New York)

In this role,we are seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our expanding legal team. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you will provide hands-on legal counsel to all levels of the organization, be responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting and reviewing key corporate and commercial contracts (master services agreements, statements of work, partnership agreements, service level agreement terms, business associate agreements, nondisclosure agreements, vendor agreements and other contracts), presenting clear recommendations, and ensuring legal compliance.Must have strong drafting skills and experience with a variety of healthcare industry and technology industry concepts. The position will involve regular collaboration with sales and commercial colleagues and various levels of company management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for Verana’s commercial activity with a focus on negotiating and drafting master services agreements, statements of work, business associate agreements and related services transactions in the healthcare industry.
  • Review and negotiate various corporate and vendor agreements, including nondisclosure agreements and SaaS agreements.
  • Be a company resource for contract related questions and processes.
  • Identify and analyze health care regulatory considerations and propose risk mitigating solutions.
  • Advise management on compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures, and a wide range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Work cross functionally with various departments to meet business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain updated template agreements that reflect Verana’s new and evolving products and services.
  • Implement and manage a company-wide corporate records retention process.

Requirements

  • JD degree and member in good standing of any state bar.
  • 4 yearsof health care transactional experience, preferably in the health care or life sciences sector of a national law firm with emphasis on HIPAA, FDA regulations, Stark law, the anti-kickback statute, and other federal healthcare fraud and abuse laws and regulations.
  • Experience with general business contracting.
  • Experience with technology transactions, data use and clinical trials agreements is a plus.
  • Ability to negotiate independently with business partners on matters of strategic importance that affect a substantial portion of the business or matters of significant importance to senior management.
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with HIPAA and state data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Some travel between the New York, San Francisco and Knoxville offices required.
